Luminarias del Pueblo 2003

Luminarias del Pueblo 2003

Where the River Meets the City of Light
The concept for this trapezoidal tower-like sculpture is a river flowing through the city, cascading into a sea of light. The two larger sides - the river panels - have slender cuts in free-flowing shapes, to resemble illuminated water. The narrower sides are the city panels, made of stained glass. The city and the river stand together in harmony, sharing the same light and ground. Height approximately 6 feet.

Tree of Winter Light
The inspiration for the tree comes from the folk art tradition of putting bottles on the ends of branches to keep evil spirits away. For this piece the glass bottle is taken a step further, combining different colored bottles with lights inside to create colorful illuminated flowers. Whimsical birds and bugs dwell among the hand forged branches. Height approximately 9 feet.

Cascade of Winter Light
This sculpture is installed in a pond above a small waterfall. It is constructed of steel, glass spheres, crushed glass, marbles and blue and white lights. It is a shimmering, glowing reflection of the cascading waterfall that feeds the pond from higher up in Ventana Canyon. Height above water level approximately 6 and a half feet.
